Responsibilities & Services
The Tax Office is responsible and accountable for all funds collected, invested, and disbursed by the County government. It also manages the accounting for the County’s capital assets, oversees the investment and management of County funds, and assists with budget preparation, including forecasting annual revenues.
The Tax Office conducts its operations in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and strives to meet the highest standards of transparency and responsible financial practices.
The Tax Office works with the
Finance Office to prepare the annual County audit, and together the two departments are responsible for Caroline County receiving the
Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers of Association for ten consecutive years. This award is the highest honor local governments can receive for financial reporting.
